Why supplier screening matters
Supplier screening should happen before a buyer sends a deposit or confirms a bulk order. The goal is not to find a supplier with no risk, but to collect enough practical information to decide whether the supplier, product, order size, communication style, and timeline look workable.
Check product fit first
A supplier may look professional but still be the wrong fit for a specific product. Buyers should check whether the supplier regularly handles the product type, material, size, function, packaging style, and order quantity they need.
Compare quotations line by line
A low unit price is not useful if it excludes packaging, logo work, accessories, carton details, or inland handling. Compare MOQ, sample cost, lead time, payment terms, packaging basis, quotation validity, and what is included in the price.
Ask for practical evidence
Useful evidence can include real product photos, short videos, previous packing examples, material details, size charts, sample photos, and carton photos. These materials do not guarantee the final order, but they help reveal whether the supplier understands the request.

Review communication quality
Supplier communication is part of screening. If answers are vague, inconsistent, or only repeat a catalog description, the buyer should slow down and clarify specifications, samples, packaging, customization, lead time, and order conditions.
Confirm written order conditions
Before placing an order, confirm the product name, quantity, unit price, packaging, lead time, payment terms, photo or inspection requirements, and shipment preparation details in writing.
